Reality Check

It was naptime today and Gavin calls out "mommy!" I rush up to his room, open the door and there he is...holding poop in his hands! Gavin had pooped in his bed and then spread it on the wall. Being Sunday, I enlisted Jason's help in cleaning it up-seriously it's his turn! There was also pee on the carpet. This would mark the THIRD time in 4 weeks that I have cleaned up pee or poop in his room during naptime. (part of his acting out and adjusting to a sibling) While cleaning up the poop, I kinda freaked out asking Jason what we should do about this. There had to be a solution that involved Gavin taking a nap without me cleaning up excrement every week. But every option we talked about had a significant downside or was just not acceptable. Jason finally said "there is nothing to do, Gavin isn't the first child to do this and it is just part of being a kid."

We were kinda frustrated at each other and at the situation (who wouldn't be while cleaning up poop off the carpet and wall) when he said it and it really hit me!

REALITY CHECK!

I realized I have been a HUGE whiner and completely selfish. I freak out anytime Gavin or Ellie behave in a way that inconveniences me and start frantically searching for a way to fix the behavior when what I need to do is SUCK IT UP and just take the negative in stride because it's all part of being a parent.

I am so sorry mom, Launa, Treasure and Ann for complaining so much. Y'all have been so kind and patient with me when I didn't deserve it.

I will try to do better...

It all started with POOP!
Gavin got his first dinosaur for pooping in the potty in December and it was love at first sight.
He loved his dinosaur so much that he got a new dinosaur every time he pooped in the potty.
His love has continued. He LOVES anything to do with dinosaurs. We have Dinosaurs, the Disney movie and the original Land Before Time.
He loves watching Discovery Channel documentaries about dinosaurs.
His recent love is the Mesa Museum of Natural History that has an AWESOME dinosaur exhibit.

My mom found the museum while here after Ellie's birth and he liked it so much that Launa took him back when she came. Almost every night Gavin thanks Heavenly Father for
DINOSAUR BONES!

Sleeping with her arms up just like Gavin did!

I can't believe our little girl is already 1 month old! Boy, the time has flown by. I am enjoying life a lot more these days. Those first few weeks of breastfeeding were difficult and having a sore bum is no fun either. But we made it through with the help of my wonderful mom Veniece and mother-in-law Launa. Ellie's colic is a little better now that we found a binky she likes and have started giving her colic medicine. Gavin is adjusting and the tantrums and acting out have lessened.

We have such beautiful, wonderful, amazing children!
I just can't get enough!
