Smiley Girl

As I've mentioned before, after tackling the jaundice we noticed Ellie crying out in pain. It wasn't a lot but it concerned me. When I mentioned it to the doctor he thought she had colic and told me to try two homeopathic remedies for colic and then come back in 2 wks for a recheck. We could only find one, called Gripe water, and began giving it to her. It seemed to help and at the 2 wk recheck the doctor really wanted us to find the Colic tablets to see if they helped even more and then come back if she got worse. We finally found the Colic tablets and for the first few days they seemed to work great. But over the next 2 wks their effectiveness lessened and she got worse. She started crying for long periods of time after every feeding. She was rigid and stiff all the time, even when feeding. It go so bad that she cried every time you tried to hold her and just preferred to be straight as a board lying on the ground. It broke my heart because I wanted so bad to cuddle her and help her feel better but holding her made it worse. She started vomiting everything she ate, or so it seemed. Plus, she stopped pooping. She went from 8-10 poops a day to one and then nothing. On top of everything else, she had torticollis like Gavin and though I was doing the neck exercises with her I could tell her head was getting flat on the right side, the side she always looks. Talk about a STRESSED OUT momma with a rambunctious two year old to boot!
So after 2 wks of this progression in symptoms I took her back to the doctor and he said that now her symptoms were sounding more like reflux and wrote her a prescription for Zantac. It took a couple days to kick in, but WE HAVE A WHOLE NEW BABY!!!

Ellie smiles all the time now, is more relaxed and likes to be cuddled again and hardly cries except when she's hungry.
I am so grateful she is no longer in pain! Thank goodness for modern medicine!

FaMiLy HoMe EvEnIng

Things that make me chuckle: This last Monday we had a family home evening lesson on the Holy Ghost. We take our lessons from the Nursery manual. The coloring activity was the above picture. After telling him what the pictures said he promptly took his crayon box and picked out the white saying it was the Holy Ghost. But, of course, the white didn't show up on the paper so he switched to brown. He would color and say "look mom I draw the Holy Ghost!" Then he preceded to draw a baby Holy Ghost, mommy Holy Ghost and daddy Holy Ghost. Then he drew baby Ellie! :) I labeled them on the picture but you probably can't see it. TOO CUTE!!

Funny Dreams

I've never had a baby do this...of course Ellie is only my second baby so I guess there are a lot of things that my babies have never done. I digress...

It's the CUTEST, FUNNIEST, MOST ADORABLE thing!

Ellie LAUGHS in her sleep!

It starts out as a HUGE smile that covers her whole face then she starts to LAUGH...I mean, FULL BODY, ROLLING laugh! Then it goes as quickly as it came and she's back to peacefully sleeping!

Ellie also smiles all the time at the ceiling fan just like Gavin did when he was a baby. Jason and I have a theory: there must be angels dancing and playing on those ceiling fans, watching over our little ones and making sure they are happy!
