Three words to describe Gavin: GO, GO, GO!! He is FULL of energy from 6:30am in the morning till 8:00pm at night. He runs from one toy to another and doesn't play with any particular toy more than the rest or for an extended period of time. However, he LOVES his army men and Potato Head he got for his birthday! He is always running, skipping or jumping around the house with his lawn mowers or chasing Sugar. He is such a climber as well. Back in January we had to put a tent over his crib to keep him from climbing out. Now he climbs on the piano, couches, entertainment center(a great distress for Jason), counters and even on top of the dryer! He has learned to push the kitchen table chairs around to get where he wants. It was quite a surprise the first time I found him standing on top of the counter (having pushed the chair over to get up there) looking in the cupboards!
Gavin does have a few rituals. He loves to watch "a show" when he wakes up in the morning, and since mom is usually still half asleep I oblige. Gavin is a milk-o-holic and his new drink of choice is "noc-i-noc" which is his chocolate milk (with Carnation Instant Breakfast mix). He is usually a ONE meal-a-day eater with small snacks on the side or sometimes nothing else at all except milk. ( I'd really like to know how he can poop 4 times a day while only eating ONE meal, how does that work?)
Out of nowhere Gavin has developed an aversion to shoes. He HATES wearing closed toed shoes and will usually take them off the second you put them on. He will wear his "flops" though because I won't let him play outside without them. But if we're going somewhere and we've put his flops on, you can bet before you even have time to get into the car yourself he has flung them off!
Gavin's favorite song is "The Wheels on the Bus" and he'll even do the motions sometimes. However, my mom calls about once a week just to sing him songs and when she calls he always asks for the "puppy" song (How Much is that Doggy in the Window).
Gavin LOVES to give "knucles" and "high-five" to people but is pretty shy to strangers otherwise. Gavin is so sweet to little girls. He has a friend named Reagan who he holds hands with to walk to nursery and even pulls out the chair for her to sit. It's really cute to watch them together.
The diaper-taking-off saga continues and has even worsened. As I posted earlier, we had to buy onesies to put him in during nap and bedtime. Well, he figured out he could still take off his diaper through the leg holes of his onesie. So we have resorted to applying packing tape around his diaper AND a onesie for sleeping. This seems to have worked so far and we hope we can get him potty trained before any more drastic measures are needed!

Gavin is magically drawn to water! Our ears are trained to listen for the toilet lid going up. (During his birthday party I couldn't find him for a minute and where do you think he was? Playing with his friends, no. Playing outside, no. Finger painting, no. He was climbing INTO the toilet...AWESOME) He CANNOT resist playing in Sugar's water and making a complete mess to where we have to sneak Sugar water when he's not around or lock the outside door so he can't get to it. He is OBSESSED with washing his hands and can even climb on our bathroom drawer knobs and hang off the side of our sink, turn on the water and wash his hands. The kid is a FISH in the water. It only took him one day to find his balance with his arm floaties and now he is a pro. He jumps right in and kicks himself wherever he wants to go. He LOVES swimming with his DADDY. Gavin still doesn't like dunking his head under water, but everything else about the wet stuff he can't resist!
Gavin is so polite saying "peez" and "dank-oo" all the time. He is talking in 3-4 word sentences now and says new things everyday. I LOVE that we had him learn sign language. Even though we haven't watched them in a long time he signs EVERYTHING. He still loves animals and knows over 20 animals and all the sounds they make. He is not so good at colors since everything is "boo" (blue). His favorite color however is RED. He always picks it to color with first. He is liking to read books more and his favorite books are the Llama Llama books and his "aimals" book that Nana got him.
For some reason, Gavin LOVES being in the dark. He is CONSTANTLY turning off all the lights and fans. It's usually okay during the day since I don't really turn the lights on anyway, but EVERY night we struggle with him turning off the lights while I'm making dinner! I'm going to cut myself one of these times! Despite the numerous time-outs, it remains a constant battle. We spend a lot of time these days in time-out. Gavin is definitely a boundary pusher. He is a sly one and will even try and distract you so he can make mischief. But we keep pressing on and he is slowly improving and starting to obey. He is just too stinking smart!!
Gavin also LOVES stickers! He can't get enough. He puts them all over his face and hair, arms and shirt. He got 3 new sticker books from Papa and Grandma Niece for his birthday and has been in sticker heaven ever since!

Gavin is an ice chewer...I know, don't blame me...it's Jason's fault. But the cute thing is that he thinks the words for "ice" and "eyes" are the same. So when he asks for "ice" he says "eyes" and points to his eyes!
We love you our silly wonderful little boy!

That first picture is a keeper. So handsome. What a cute little terror. He sounds like my kids. Have you seen the picture of Shelby on our cabinets washing her hands? I haven't had one in the toilet before. That's new. Leave it up to kids to think that would be a fun place to be:) What a cutie!
He's growing up too fast! Love your boy so much! I have an awesome potty training book if you want me to email it to you. It works like a charm. :)
