What an amazing week we had in Florida! The Sunday after Thanksgiving we woke up at 4am to stand in line at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport for 1.5 hours (we considered it on the job training for Disney) to get our tickets and get through security. Luckily but unluckily both the kids were not feeling so hot so they chilled and slept most of the way to Orlando. Bad though because G-Man then spent the rest of the trip getting over the sickness.
Once in Orlando we rendezvoused with Jen's family - Jerry (Papa), Veniece (Grandma Niece), Patrick, Elizabeth, Audrey, Michelle, and Virgina. That night we planned our all-out assault on Disney World.
Monday was overcast and rainy so we headed to Downtown Disney for sightseeing, shopping and food. All Gavin wanted the whole day was to "go shooting." Yes, he remembers from nearly two years ago when we went with my family to Disneyland and rode Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story Mania - he was not even TWO! Fortunately we were able to catch the new Muppet movie and that abated his need to blow something up for a time. After the show, Papa bought him an awesome Harley Davidson vest and Gavin picked out the patches. We called it his shooting and riding vest.
That night we went to this awesome restaurant called T-REX. It had dinosaurs everywhere and meteor showers, and good food too. Gavin even went back at the end of the week with Grandma Niece to build a dinosaur. He selected a T-Rex, and had to pick out a heart, choose what the dino would say, give it a “bath” (video to come), snap up some stylin’ threads and give it a name. Gavin’s decision, all by himself, was “Green House Spikey.” We don’t know where it came from and we asked several times, and he was definitive. So we call him “Spikey” for short.
Tuesday we were off for the first of five days at Disney World. We would spend two days at the Magic Kingdom, a day at Epcot, a day at Hollywood Studios, and a day at the Animal Kingdom. Every day the kids woke up super excited for the adventures ahead, and when we returned to the condo at night they slept hard.
