Easter 2013

At Tyler's wedding, I successfully talked Mike and Launa into spending Easter with us this year!  They arrived the Thursday night before and we had a wonderful visit!  Friday we went to the zoo and colored eggs and went to the Mesa Temple Easter Pageant.   Saturday we had a ward Easter breakfast and egg hunt.  In the afternoon was our 5th annual friend Easter Egg Hunt with Niederhausers, Clarks and Youngs(I love the traditions we have made with our Arizona family!)

Easter Sunday Jason and I had the great pleasure (sarcasm) of speaking in Sacrament.  Of course, we were asked to speak on the Atonement and how it can relieve suffering and bring us hope! I was a little surprised at how nervous I was to talk.  I don't mind giving lessons at all but after almost 6 years in this ward, this was my first time to talk in Sacrament.  I am so grateful, (sarcasm aside) for the chance to study the Atonement during the two weeks leading up to Easter Sunday.  I learned a lot and feel like I understand the Atonement even more, which was probably the whole point of them asking us to speak. I am so grateful to my loving Savior who not only willingly paid the price for my sins, but also subjected Himself to all the pains, sufferings and afflictions each one of us would go through so that He would know how to comfort and help and heal us.  What love! There is no pain or emotion that we have that Christ did not feel first.  Our only job is lean on Him, and let the healing balm of the Atonement strengthen and lift us beyond our own capacity.  I learned that the Atonement is not just for sinners but saints, too. We need the Atonement everyday, not just to wipe away our sins, but to strengthen our efforts to become like Christ.  That's what it means that "by His grace, we are saved."
Easter dinner was FABULOUS with us, Mike and Launa and Josh and Dani Bitton.  I love honey ham, potatoes, rolls, rainbow jello and strawberry pie!  A day spent with family and friends and good food...What could be better, I ask you?

All the kids, we are a big crowd now!  Waiting to find some eggs and other goodies at our Friend Easter Egg Hunt!
