CHOSEN!!

On April 14th, Jason and I were contacted by a birthmother, Ariel, letting us know that she had chosen us to be the parents of her baby boy that was due on July 18th! With LDS Family Services, you are contacted via email through their Salt Lake office. Jason was the one to open and read the email that morning. I was at our community pool working on my tan for our cruise in May, when suddenly I saw Jason and Sugar (our dog) running down the street! We must have looked so silly: laughing, crying, hugging each other again and again! It had felt like we had already been waiting forever (time is very subjective in these situations) but in actuality we had only had our profile up for 4 weeks. Now, I realize how easy we had it-being chosen. Most couples are told by birthmothers that they are one of a few couples that she is looking at as potential parents and they have to stress and fret if she will like them and end up choosing them. Thankfully, we skipped right over that. I really feel that we went through all the horrible experiences of the last two years to prepare our minds and hearts to accept adoption as a way to start our family. I also feel that Jason was inspired to introduce to me the option of adoption when he did so that we would decide to adopt and get everything done (paperwork, home study, certification and profile) so that we could receive THIS baby boy! Oh how tender are the mercies of the Lord!
