Secret Mission....apparently...IMPOSSIBLE!

Funny story...A couple days after we accepted Ariel's request that we be the parents of her baby, she asked if we could meet with her and the birthfather, David. They were in Utah and wanted to meet us soon before David left for the summer. ("Yikes!" and "Awesome!" all at the same time-man your emotions really get jumbled with this stuff!) Jason and I had decided soon after we were chosen that we wouldn't tell anyone until it got closer to the birth and we were more certain that it would actually happen. Yes, we were playing it safe. And yes, we really didn't tell ANYONE (which was harder for Jason than myself oddly enough). Thus, we have...the secret mission. We decided we would fly up to Utah early in the morning on April 25th, rent a car and drive down to the Provo LDS Family Services office where we were to meet with Ariel and David, then catch a plane home later that night-all without the knowledge of the TONS of family and friends we have there. Unfortunately I had to work the night before and only got one hour of sleep (and I'm an 8 to 10 hour a night girl) before we had to wake up and get ready to go. In my haze of sleepiness I could not for the life of me decide what to wear even though I thought I had decided the night before. Jason was literally pulling what hair he has left out as I tried on oufit after outfit. I finally decided on the outfit that I had picked the night before! Due to my wardwrobe crisis, I had made us late and we had to RUN once we got to the airport. Fortunately, a driver of one of those motorized passenger carts had pity on us and drove us down to our gate which happened to be the farthest one possible.
To make matters worse, during the hour and a half flight to Salt Lake from Mesa mother nature decided to bring me my monthly gift! Delirious from lack of sleep and stressed to the max with worry that Ariel and David wouldn't like us, I was one straw away from a complete melt down. Jason had the idea that instead of trying to take care of mother nature and put on my makeup in a Wal-Mart or grocery store we could stop off at his parents house since they would all be down in Provo attending his sister Jenny's graduation at UVSC. In my weakened state I agreed and we went to his parents house. While I was upstairs putting on my face, unexpectedly Jason's brothers, Brian and Tyler, walk through the door. I froze! They had left the graduation early so Tyler could work on a final project for one of his classes. Jason made up some lame story about why he was up there and told them not to tell anyone. He pretended to be alone but of course my purse was right on the counter. Nice try. They left a little confused and definitely suspicious. Needless to say, that was the last straw and I broke down in tears-we were seen!
Luckily, the meeting with Ariel and David went wonderful even though we were so nervous. They were so sweet and gave us copies of the ultrasound pictures, an adoption book and a baby scrapbook packet. We instantly felt a connection with both of them and they seemed to like us too. What a relief! What we didn't realize was that UVSC and BYU were having their graduations, so the whole city was packed. While trying to find a place to eat lunch with Ariel and David, the sitings by friends continued. I guess a career as a secret agent is out!
