Our Story

We met in college in a ballroom dance class. Jason was teaching dance at the time and had decided to take the class to get new ideas for dance moves, and of course, to check out the girls! I was on the university ballroom dance team and loved learning new forms of dance. Jason didn’t make a good first impression. When we were in class we had to change partners a lot and oftentimes when we would be told to pick new partners he would look right at me and then choose the girl behind me. So, needless to say, I didn’t care for him much. Secretly, however, I wanted him to ask me to dance since he was the only guy not make my toes black and blue. Jason later told me he wouldn’t ask me to dance until he had the section of the dance we were working on perfect because he was intimidated by me and wanted to make a good impression. Little did he know he was doing the opposite. Finally, however, he got up the courage to not only ask me to dance but to ask me out on a date. He had a good friend that was on a different ballroom dance team than I was and used her phone list of all the team members. Since he didn’t know my last name he just started calling all the Jennifer’s until he found me. Luckily I think I was the third girl he called. After becoming best friends and dating for a year and a half, we were married. We have been married for five years now and have loved every minute. After we graduated from college, we moved to Houston to live with family and save up for law school. Though we enjoyed the heat there we hated the humidity and found Arizona to be the perfect place to go for law school. Two years ago we bought a dog, named Sugar, and have so much fun playing with her and laughing at the silly things she does each day. We have a healthy relationship based on love, respect, communication, appreciation and understanding. We love spending time together walking our dog, playing games, going to movies and spending time with friends. We enjoy bar-b-queing, boating, wake boarding, 4-wheeling and of course, playing sports. We love to travel. Some of our favorite places to visit are Las Vegas and Jackson Hole with friends and family. Both Jason and I are very active in our church and religion plays an important role in our lives. Since we were married we talked about having a large family. Two years ago we started trying to have children. After a couple miscarriages, testing and dealing with all the emotions that come with being unable to get pregnant, we decided to adopt. We had talked about adopting eventually when we first got married, but didn't realize that adoption would help us start our family. When we made the decision to start the adoption process, we both felt such peace and that we were doing what God wanted us to do. It seemed that all the heartache, frustration and stress of the last two years was wiped away.
