Whoa...Stop...too fast!
On Friday, October 3rd, while we were in Houston visiting my family, I laid Gavin down on a blanket for some tummy time. He doesn't really like tummy time due to his torticollis because it forces him to use those tight neck muscles so he usually cries the whole time. But, since tummy time is so important for strengthening those neck, upper body and abdominal muscles I try to give Gavin tummy time several times a day. So, back to the story, on this day I had laid him down on his tummy and a couple minutes later when I looked back over at him he was on his back! He had rolled himself over! I couldn't believe it and figured it was just a fluke since he didn't do it again while we were in Houston. Yesterday, while I was watching cute little Jackson I again placed Gavin on his tummy. Immediately he rolled himself over on his back! So we tried it again and...yup, he rolled over. He did this EVERY time I tried to put him on his tummy! Gavin is only 10 weeks old and he is already rolling over. I don't know what I'm going to do; he keeps growing up so fast. I looked up baby milestones on the internet and rolling over usually happens around 6 months! I know every child is different and many children start doing things way before the literature says they are supposed to but I kinda freaked out! Don't get me wrong, I was so happy to see him roll over but mingled with the joy was a hint of anxiety that my little baby boy was growing up way too fast. I LOVE that he is still little enough to want to snuggle and fall asleep in my arms. I LOVE that he grabs the top of my shirt when I hold him. I LOVE that he needs me to feed him and hold the bottle for him so I can snuggle with him even more. I LOVE that he can't move anywhere so that he is content to sit in my lap and smile as I sing songs to him and play with his arms. I LOVE that he is still young enough not to care that I kiss him a MILLION times a day. I LOVE the way he constantly opens and closes his fingers to scratch my arm or side. I LOVE the twinkle in his eyes when he smiles. I LOVE the way he lifts one eyebrow when I make a silly face or sound...it usually proceeds a cute smile. I LOVE that no matter where I am or who is holding him he hears my voice then finds and stares at me. I LOVE that right now I am his whole world because he is mine. I LOVE my little angel.
Disclaimer: I sound totally retarded on the video...I mean, come on, who sounds like that? But I was flustered and didn't really think about what I was saying or how I was saying it because I was focused on catching Gavin rolling over on video.

I can't believe he can do that!! You better work on him and his determination to grow up so fast. He needs to slow down at least until I can get there in a few days so I can see him as a baby. He's going to be walking at this rate!! Give him my love!! And I love your voice on the recording. You have a "Mommy" voice. Its cute!
Way to go Gavin! Most of my kids rolled at about 3-4 months once and then they didn't do it again till about 6-7 months. They grow up way to fast, enjoy.
They do get big fast! It's so fun to see them do new things but a little sad to think of them changing so quickly. I can't believe he rolled over already! Teagan HATED tummy time and would scream (and I mean LOUD) the whole time. He never rolled over until he was about 4 & 1/2 to 5 months. Gavin is so cute and I bet your mom was just thrilled to get to spend time with him. Keep up the blog! I love the updates on your adorable baby!
