Change is like the wind...

Change is like the wind. Sometimes it comes on gradually like a soft summer breeze. Other times it crashes into you like a tornado. Well, Gavin is our little tornado! :) He mastered the art of rolling quite early and on January 24th decided to start scooting. He is such a busy-body and apparently scooting wasn't getting him to his desired destinations fast enough because two weeks after he started scooting he gave it up for a faster mode of transportation...crawling! He is literally EVERYWHERE! Today I caught him playing in Sugar's water bowl, splashing and spreading water all over himself and the floor. He went from there to attempting to escape out Sugar's doggy door to eating Jason's shoe. How is it that babies know exactly what they're not supposed to have? I mean the kid has got a million toys on the floor for him to crawl to and play with but instead he likes tv removes, wires and cords of all kinds and dirty gross shoes! Ah, but that's not all, on Tuesday I unassumingly walked into his bedroom to get him up from a nap and there he was standing up in his crib! (Mind you had he gotten the inclination to bend over he would have fallen right out and probably landed on his head because we haven't lowered the mattress!) I was so surprised I grabbed him right away and didn't get a picture but you can bet what Jason's assignment was that night while I was at work...yep, to lower the mattress. SIDENOTE - the manufacturer's of the crib didn't have short people in mind because the next time we have to lower the mattress I'm going to have to get a stepping stool just to reach Gavin. As it is now, I get jabbed in the chest (I could have used another word if you know what I mean) every time I lay him down or try to take him out. Seriously, the annoyances of being short are quite numerous! But then again, I never complain. Back to our little tornado, he has also started eating baby food which is an adventure. But after a week of that he thinks he's ready to eat and drink whatever mommy has and throws somewhat of a trantrum when I don't let him drink my Jamba Juice or whatever it might be. If I blink too long he'll be driving and graduating from college! It's a good thing not much is changing in the other facets of our lives or I might go CRAZY!!

Wow...he is getting so big! What a little cutie. It's amazing how they grow up so quickly, especially in the first year. By the way...I have that same "jabbed in the chest" problem when I pick Rory up out of her crib, you'll get used to it!

So, if this doesn't put it into perspective, he's 5 months younger than Brennon and all he does is army crawl a couple spaces! He's crawling!!!!!! yay

Oh dear, nothing but trouble! Even when you think you've baby proofed everything he'll find something else you didn't think of. :)

You have your work cut out for you! Now that he is mobile you will never get any rest. AND, yes, before you know it he will be driving, dating and getting married with kids of his own. Enjoy every minute you can.
