Finalization

On Monday, February 2, 2009 we went to the American Fork Fourth District Court (in American Fork, Utah) to finalize our adoption. It was an interesting experience especially since the last time I was in a real court I was the one being adopted by my dad when I was 11 years old! Crazy! It was short and sweet with only Jason, me, Gavin and Launa there besides our LDS Family Services caseworker and attorney. The paperwork we signed was completely logical and yet seemed so funny to me. Jason and I each had to verballly tell the judge and witnesses in the court that we would care for Gavin physically, emotionally and financially as if he were our son. I just kept thinking in my mind that he IS our son and OF COURSE we will take care of all his needs. I can't imagine someone saying no and yet I understand the need for the formality.

I can't believe we have had Gavin 6 months already and that his adoption is officially complete. The last 6 months have felt like a dream. Gavin is the joy of our lives! My heart continues to melt every time he smiles or laughs at me. I still smother him with kisses and tell him I love him every day.

I love you my sweet, precious little man!
