My Little Sickie

For the past two weeks Gavin and I have been sick. Gavin started coughing, having a runny nose and fever last Monday Feb. 9th. By Wednesday Feb. 11th, he was listless, not eating and miserable so I took him into the doctor. He was diagnosed with bronchiolitis and two ear infections!! POOR BOY!! As many of you know Gavin does not like to cuddle, so I knew he was really feeling bad when all he wanted to do was rest his head on my shoulder. I felt horrible that he was so sick but at the same time LOVED all the cuddles. Gavin is almost 7 months old and this is the first time he has been sick. I feel somewhat proud. In the ER I see sick kids all the time, but it is definitely worse when it's YOUR kid that's sick. There was one night he was wheezing so badly I was afraid to fall asleep, scared that he would stop breathing. Luckily a neighbor heard that Gavin was sick and let us borrow their Vicks Vaporizer and we bought a humidifier as well. Let me tell you they made a HUGE difference! After about three days of basically me holding him 24/7 he finally started getting a little energy. The problem was after a few minutes of crawling and playing he would be wheezing so badly I would have to hold him to keep him from getting worse! Our Valentines day was pretty low key with both me and Gavin sick. I am grateful Jason has managed to stay healthy, though. (we are probably single-handedly keeping the Airborne company in business!) I have to give props to my WONDERFUL husband! He has been so kind and thoughtful since we have been sick taking care of dinners, going to the store at all hours to get medicine and waiting on us hand and foot. I couldn't have asked for a better hubby! So, here we are 2 weeks later and at least Gavin feels better. His cough is almost gone and is back to crawling all over the place without a hint of wheezing! I just wish I felt better too.

I agree. It is a lot worse when it is your own child. I'm glad to hear he's feeling better. Now, you get better too. Love you
