All Things GAVIN

Gavin has been the perfect baby from the beginning. Jason and I feel almost spoiled. From the day we brought him home the most he has ever woken up at night is once. Gavin hardly ever cries, drinks his formula without problems and most times will burp before you can even get him to your shoulder. He was, and still is, a clean eater and hardly ever spits ups! What more can a new mom ask for? Although, that first week he did have a knack for peeing on things. One time my mom and I were changing him at my grandma's house, on her couch (first mistake...NOW I know). As I was cleaning his little dude he started pooping. So, of course, I started cleaning that up, which made him more mad and he started peeing EVERYWHERE! So, OF COURSE, I clean little dude again only to see that he is pooping AGAIN! Yes, you see a pattern...well this happened FIVE more times. By the end he had peed on himself (poor little guy...right in the face), me, his clothes, the couch, the blanket and my mom. Basically he got everything within a foot radius EXCEPT the darn lap pad which was right underneath him. Dry as a bone!

More about our little Gavin:
He LOVES to be held which is no surprise since the first two weeks of his life he was hardly put down. Jason and I realized early on that he likes classical music. We had put him in his swing once and he started to cry so we turned on the music, which is compilation of classical pieces, and he stopped crying immediately and just listened. We have since bought him the Baby Beethoven CD, which he loves. He will just lie there and listen to it. His favorite thing to look at is the ceiling fan and, much to my chargrin, it has gotten the most smiles out of him so far. However, I'm working on that one. He enjoys bathtime. It is so cute because he just looks at you with these eyes that say "ahhh, that feels so nice" all the while his bottom lip is quivering.
On August 24th, he smiled for the first time while Jason was playing with him and then on the 26th mommy found his first ticklish spot (his collar bones)! His smile has got to be the CUTEST thing I have EVER seen! He has acquired a few nicknames so far: "our little pirate," "Captain G," and "thunder pants." The first two stem from his habit of falling asleep with one eye open like a pirate. The third is quite obvious, but seriously I didn't think someone so small could fart SO much! It's impressive. He is getting better at holding his head up on his own each day. When we went to his 2 week check up they gave us neck stretches to do with him each time we change his diaper. He has a habit of looking only to the right, so we are constantly turning his head to the left and doing the neck stretches which he hates. At about 4-5 weeks old Gavin started sleeping 6 hours a night and has slept 7 hours each night for the past week. Mommy is LOVING it. He is such a good little boy!
He is lying down awake and alert just looking around more and more each day. He will actually look right at me when we play and smiles more. His attention span is really lengthening. Jason and I can't believe how much fun he is and how much we love him. He truly is the light of our lives!
