The Sweetest Sound
Today was the BEST day. Gavin has been so good, taking long naps and being so pleasant when he wakes. For a while now he has been steadily increasing his cooing, but I have never been able to capture it on video. So far most of his sounds have been the sighing coos (all you mothers probably know what I mean) so they are unpredictable and short lived. Gavin has also been smiling more and what I think is a laugh, though I'm not sure. The past two nights when Jason gets home he starts smiling SO big when he hears his daddy's voice. It is the cutest thing. Today, Gavin got so excited and smiled so big when I would flick his bottom lip. Ususally when you find something that makes him smile it only lasts for a minute or two, but today we played and smiled and laughed together on the floor for 15 minutes. I'm usually not such a sap, but his smile fills my soul with light. The purity of the joy is so evident in his eyes. I have been a little taken aback at the strength of my feelings when I see him smile, like nothing in the world is more beautiful or satisfying. Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better, Gavin surprises me again. I picked him up and laid him on my chest (we were lying on floor) and he looked straight into my eyes and TALKED TO ME! It wasn't just the sighing coos, it was longer and more like baby talk then I have ever heard from him! It was amazing...and then he peed on me. Such is the life of mothers!
(P.S. the clip is so short because I wanted to send it via text to Ariel and David, Gavin's birthparents, and you can't send a video that is too long.)
